Terms of Service

1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account, signing in with GitHub, or otherwise using LinfyLab, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

You must be old enough to enter into a binding contract in your country of residence. If you use LinfyLab on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for that organisation.

2. Your account

Accounts are created through GitHub OAuth. You are responsible for keeping access to your GitHub account secure, and for all activity that happens under your LinfyLab account.

You agree to give accurate information, to keep your account details current, and to tell us promptly if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

You may not share your account, sell access to it, or let anyone else use it to access paid content.

3. Acceptable use

LinfyLab runs the code you submit on our infrastructure and on third-party execution services. You agree not to submit code that is intended to attack, overload, probe, or escape that infrastructure, to mine cryptocurrency, to send spam, or to access data belonging to other learners.

You agree not to attempt to defeat, bypass, or reverse-engineer the grading, hidden-test, or subscription-entitlement systems, and not to scrape, republish, or redistribute our project content, hidden tests, or reference solutions.

You agree not to use the platform to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to harass other users. We may suspend accounts that put the platform, our providers, or other learners at risk.

4. Your code and your content

You keep ownership of the code and other content you write and submit. We do not claim ownership of your work.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, transmit, compile, run, and analyse your submissions strictly to operate the platform — that is, to execute your code, grade it, generate AI-assisted review feedback, show you your progress, and support and improve the service.

This licence exists only so the platform can function on your behalf. It ends for future processing when you delete your account, and it does not permit us to publish your code as our own.

5. Our content and intellectual property

The platform itself — including project templates, task descriptions, public and hidden tests, reference solutions, documentation, branding, and the software that runs LinfyLab — belongs to LinfyLab or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property law.

You may use our content for your own learning. You may not redistribute it, sell it, publish hidden tests or reference solutions, or use it to build a competing product.

6. Automated code execution and AI review

When you submit work, we package up your project repository and send it to Judge0, a third-party code-execution service, where it is compiled and run against our tests. The whole repository at that commit is sent, not only the file you were working on.

The code files in your repository at that commit may also be sent to Anthropic (Claude) so an automated review can be generated — again, that is the project's source files at that point, not only the changes you made. AI review is produced by a machine and is provided for learning purposes only. It can be incomplete, inconsistent, or wrong.

Because your whole project is sent to these services, please do not commit passwords, API keys, or other secrets to your LinfyLab project repositories.

AI review is not a professional code audit, and it is not a security review. Do not rely on it as assurance that code is correct, safe, or fit for production use.

7. GitHub access

Signing in with GitHub asks for the user:email, user, and repo permission scopes. The repo scope is GitHub's full repository scope: it technically permits read and write access to every repository your account owns, not only the ones LinfyLab creates. We use it solely for your LinfyLab project repositories, but you should understand what you are granting when you sign in.

With that access we create repositories for your projects, write files into them — the project template and the starter files for each milestone — read their contents to grade your work, and receive webhook events when you push commits.

You can review and revoke LinfyLab's access at any time from your GitHub account settings. Revoking access will stop the parts of the platform that depend on it, including automatic grading on push.

8. Subscriptions, billing, and refunds

Some content requires a paid subscription. Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record for all purchases. Your contract for the purchase itself is with Paddle, and Paddle's own terms apply to that transaction.

Subscriptions renew automatically for the billing period you selected until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current paid period.

Prices may change. We will give reasonable notice before a change affects a renewal. Refund requests are handled in line with Paddle's buyer terms and any applicable consumer-law rights in your country.

We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.

9. Availability and changes to the service

LinfyLab is under active development. We may add, change, or remove features, projects, and content at any time. We may also need to suspend the service for maintenance or because of a problem at one of our providers.

We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability, and we do not guarantee that a specific project or piece of content will remain available.

10. Disclaimers

The platform is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

LinfyLab is an educational tool. We do not promise any particular learning outcome, qualification, certification, employment, or career result.

You are responsible for keeping your own copies of your work. While we store your submissions to operate the platform, we are not a backup service.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LinfyLab will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising from your use of the platform.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the platform is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or fifty euros.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

12. Suspension and termination

You may stop using LinfyLab at any time and can delete your account from your account settings.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these terms, if your use puts the platform or other users at risk, or if we are required to do so by law or by one of our providers.

When your account is deleted, your access to paid content ends and no refund is due for the remainder of a billing period unless the law requires one. Some records may be retained where we have a legal obligation to keep them.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform develops. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, give notice in the app or by email.

Continuing to use LinfyLab after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, you should stop using the platform and may delete your account.
